Volume 14 Toranoana Bonus Short Story
A residential neighborhood in Tokyo. A detached rental house situated midway through it. In the living-dining area, set up to be about ten tatami mats in size. Shortly after finishing lunch, Gabriela, who stood beside the Futsumen as he settled into the sofa and leafed through a magazine, spoke to him.
"Nishino Gokyou, it's another beautiful day today. Let's go for a walk together."
"Again? I thought we went for a walk yesterday."
"Regular walking is extremely beneficial for maintaining physical and mental health. Walking around every day won't cause any problems. Why not try incorporating it into your daily routine?"
Gabu-chan smiled as she moved her arms and tapped her feet on the spot. Ever since regaining her limbs, she'd been eager to go out for any reason.Then, from across the low table, Rose, seated on the sofa opposite, said.
"What happened to your previous reclusive ways?"
"How delightful it is to walk on one's own two feet. It's as if the world has changed."
"You're just like a dog."
"Shall I put a collar and leash on you? If you're going to accompany me on walks, I don't mind."
"Stop that nonsense. What if strange rumors start spreading around the neighborhood?"
"Are we going soon? Why not enjoy yourself while you can?"
"If you're going to do it, do it alone. Don't drag Nishino-kun into your little kinks."
The other day, a terrorist incident occurred at their school. As a result, Nishino and the others were forced to transfer schools. With classes suspended, they spent their free time at home. With nothing else to do, their days were peaceful yet restless.
"Or rather, how's the moving process going?"
"There's no problem. More importantly, Nishino Gokyou, let's go for a walk."
"Going outside is fine, but where are we going?"
"Today I want to push myself a bit more than yesterday and go farther."
"In that case, I suppose I'll join you."
"Why don't you just relax at home, sister?
"Just because you feel like a little walk, you sure have a lot to say, don't you?"
"Farther than yesterday... If only I had a bicycle, it would open up a few more options."
Gabriella wasn't the only one with too much free time on her hands. Nishino and Rose also began to express their enthusiasm. Hearing the Futsumen's casual opinion, Gabu-chan let out a cheerful voice.
"That's a brilliant idea. Let's head to the bike shop on today's walk."
"I don't mind going, but is there even a bike shop around here?"
"So what are you guys going to do with all that luggage before you move?"
"Well, once we're in the new place, we can just ride bikes to get around."
"No way, it's such a hassle."
"I'm interested in tandem bikes. Nishino Gokyou, please let me ride in the back."
"Hold on a second. That's my place, so please refrain from doing so!"
"Or would you rather ride on top? Well then, the option of me riding on top..."
"I found a bike shop two stations ahead by train. How about this one?"
Under the bright sunlight streaming through the living room window, cheerful words are exchanged among the residents. It's uncertain how long this happy mood will last. Yet in this very moment, genuine smiles adorned their faces.
